Republic of Lamb - AKA Fidra Island - International Islands

So, buying an island and then declaring it a micronation! Sound familiar? Well there’s a new player in town, Uri Geller and his Republic of Lamb, or as it is more commonly known Fidra Island.

An island micronation you say?

While not the first people to TRY and crowd fund buying an island, nor even the first to declare an island a micronation, we were the first to successfully marry the two together.

We now have the Principality of Islandia that not only got featured in CNN, but even has a Wikipedia page. You really know you’ve made when you get a Wiki entry!

What’s the Republic of Lamb and did Uri Geller steal our idea?

For the uninitiated Uri Geller is a psychic of sorts, or at least claims to be one. He apparently once worked for the CIA, managed to make Scotland miss a penalty at Euro 96 and bends a lot of spoons.

And as for the Republic of Lamb? Uri wanted to buy a noble title, but they weren’t selling, so instead he purchased an island, much like us to start a country, or in his words “”Lamb is a place like no other and it deserves its own identity. This is a fitting way to do it.” – as quoted from his home in Israel where he actually lives.

And he’s offering citizenship, with proceeds going to charity. Alas because it is a nature reserve of sorts even if you are a citizen you won’t actually be able to visit the Republic of Lamb.

What makes the Republic of Lamb so special?

Except for some nature, not all that much, with citizens not really having much say in anything and the whole project seemingly being more a vanity project for Mr Geller, with him stating “I’ve always wanted to own an island like James Bond”.

Dude James Bond never owned an island, you are thinking more about the Bond villains, which probably suits your personality a bit more anyway.

So, overall a bit lame and in ur mind at least nowhere near as good as Coffee Caye.
