What’s the story with the World Islands UAE?
The World Islands (Arabic: جزر العالم; Juzur al-Ālam) are an archipelago off of the coast of Dubai that have been created to resemble as much as humanly possible “the world”.
The islands are generally made from sand dredged from around Dubai and its waters, making them manmade, but natural, kinda. Think more reclaimed land than Sealand.

Construction of the 300 islands began in 2003 – yes we are aware there are not 300 countries, but bear with us. Things got halted during the financial crisis of 2008-2009 and have been very stop start since.
The project though has continued and while not exactly flourishing but islands have been brought and sold and at HUGE sums.
The world islands layout
The archipelago consists of seven sets of islands, representing the continents of Europe, Africa, Asia, North America, South America, Antarctica, as well as Oceania/Australasia.
Now that does not make 300 right? So under each continent there are islands named after either countries, or things. So, there is a France an Antarctica, a n Australia and a United Kingdom. There is not Nauru, or the Central African Republic – you get the picture.
The raining 300 are made of places like Mount Everest, or New York and Moscow to name but a few.

Richard Branson did a PR stunt on the UK island, but ended up not paying the $33 million asking price. Other developers have thought come in and done “stuff” and the project is far from dying.
As things stand Europe seems to be making the most headway among the World Islands of Dubai. Most projects though seem to be in development rather than doing all that much.
How much does it cost to buy an island at the World Islands Dubai?
There’s not much of a brochure, or price list when it comes to the World Islands, but a general rule of thumb is places cost between $7 million and $1.3 billion, but before you go grabbing your Amex Platinum these are not for everyone.
Islands are being sold specifically to developers, to well develop them, with the long term plan being for these to be places people live, work, or visit as resorts. We are thus not selling them at International Islands, they do though very much warrant mention from our side though!
